Pentecost 14

1)      Thanks to all who helped with the Shoe Shed clean out, the Blood Drive, moving the mother and her two girls to their apartment and Sunday school training.

2)      Thanks to all who gave to the Just One More school supply drive. A job well done!

3)      Next Wednesday, August 20th from 5 to 6:30pm is a thank you social for all our shoe shed volunteers.  Please come and share in a celebration of the shoe shed ministry. 

4)      Ladies night out Thursday, August 21^st- 6pm - @ Olive Garden East Towne / Men’s breakfast Saturday, August 23^rd - 7:30am @ Pancake Café.

5)      Camp Web farewell is Saturday, August 23rd from 11am to evening.

6)      We are having a parish picnic on Sunday, August 24^th at 10am with Mass on the Grass and a potluck to follow.  Sign up sheet is in the Narthex.

7)      Jan Byrd will be here to talk about Haiti on August 24th during our parish picnic.

      Sunday, September 7th is Sunday school rally day.

9)      There is a sign up sheet in the Narthex for helping with the Park crawl.

10) I will be off the Labor Day weekend doing my cousin’s wedding.  Fr.  John will be here doing supply.

Pentecost 13

ü  This is your last chance to sign up to work Corn Fest. We really need some help on Saturday and Sunday. Please sign up for a shift or an extra shift if you can.

ü  Today, Sunday, August 10^th is shoe shed clean up day.

ü  A safe guarding God’s children training is today, Sunday, August 10^th from 6-9pm. We are hosting a Godly Play Training on August 15 and on Saturday, August 16 St. Dunstan’s is hosting the training

ü  The blood drive is this Tuesday, August 12^th.   Please tell your friends.

ü  Pastor Larry Westfield is coming to Bishop’s committee to talk about stewardship on August 13^th.  All are welcome to attend.

ü  August 14^th we are hosting the West Convocation 6:30pm evening prayer, 7pm meal and meeting.  If you can help please see me. 

ü  Wednesday, August 20th from 5 to 6:30 is a glorified coffee hour for all our shoe shed volunteers.  Please come and share in a celebration of the shoe shed ministry.  A shoe shed meeting for those interested happens after the service.

ü  Building and Grounds will meet Wednesday, August 20^th at 7pm.

ü  Ladies night out on Thursday, August 21st at the Olive Garden -eastside 6pm.

ü  Camp Webb farewell is Saturday, August 23rd from 11am to evening.

ü  Men’s’ breakfast is being held on Saturday, August 23rd at 7:30am.

ü  We are having a parish picnic on Sunday, August 24^th at 10 am with Mass on the Grass and a potluck to follow. A sign up sheet is located in the Narthex.  Jan Byrd will be here to talk about Haiti on during our parish picnic.

ü  The Outreach committee is being part of a community effort to provide school backpacks for at need families. 

ü  Joining Forces for Families needs help moving a single mom this week or next.  We are paying for her truck and gas from U-haul.  We need a driver and some muscle.

ü  There is a sign up sheet in the Narthex for helping with the Park Crawl on Sunday, September 14^th.

ü  Our bathrooms are painted, thanks to Susan, Cliff and Chuck.

 Ø  Wild eye wrestling camp is taking place from August 3rd-9^th at the community center.

Ø  Bishops night at the ball park in Saturday, September 6th.  We need to get our order in by August 4, 2008.

Ø  The youth of the parish are going to undertake a project of interview the founding and senior members of the parish.  Kids 4 will allow us to use their equipment if we have some kids or adults go through there orientation.  I am looking for a youth and adult willing to be trained in video recording and production.

Ø  The Outreach committee is being part of a community effort to provide school backpacks for at need families.  Please consider when you are shopping for school supplies buying one more item and donating it to the school backpack project.  We also have school lists for people who aren’t shopping for school supplies but want to help. Lots of stores are running their back to school specials right now. We will have a collection box in the Narthex next week.

Well Good Shepherd is a very busy place as we close our July and move toward August. A group of Good Shepherd folks took a trip to the Fireside for the production of “The Rock and the Rabbi”. We are having the Carpets at church cleaned this Tues. Extreme Home makeover is building a house in Richland cneter thanks to Veridan homes. Good shepherd has volenteers from our church family helping out.
We are starting to collect school supplies for our Families in need in our community. School supply lists are available at church or on the Sun prairie School district website.

August 3-9 Good Shepherd is sponsoring a wrestling clinic with the Sun priaire park and Rec. for 5year olds through 5th grade.

We are holding our 1st red Cross blood drive on Aug. 12th from 2pm to 6pm.

We will also be back at Corn-fest in Sun priaire seling Sweet bread called Curillos and Root Beer floats.
