You Are All Invited To

The Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Shoe Shed Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

Wednesday, August 20, 2008 - 5:30 - 6:30 pm followed by Eucharist

Every person in this church is considered a volunteer because you contribute time, space, shoes and finances toward this ministry.

Through this ministry you are welcoming the stranger and ministering to your neighbors.

Because of your service, June Paul and Father Mike want to honor you for living out your baptismal covenant and reaching out to help people in need.

Together as a congregation we are bringing Peace of Mind and Shoes to the Feet of People in Need.  It is our pleasure to honor all of you for all the lives you have touched.  We look forward to serving you!

Here are the facts about the ministry you are performing and the lives you are touching!  They are amazing as all of you are!

From January 1, 2008 through July 5, 2008:

According to our records 70 pairs of shoes were brought into the church and 481 Pairs of Adult and Children’s Shoes have left our Church.

People have been served in Windsor, Sun Prairie, Madison, Wisconsin Rapids, Rockford, IL and Tanzania.

We delivered 182 Pairs of Adult Women and 40 pairs of Children’s Shoe to The YWCA Shoes for Success program in Madison.

Hope 2 Others picked up 4 pair of shoes for their sponsored visiting student to take back home to his family in Tanzania.

The School District of Sun Prairie referred two families who received a total of 15 pairs of shoes

70 pairs of shoes were sent to Wisconsin Rapids for an upcoming Community Day of service to the poor.

Three Families in Sun Prairie picked up 44 pairs of Adult and Children’s Shoes for people in need.

1 Family from Windsor picked up a total of 20 pairs of shoes for people in need.

Representatives of the Outreach ministry at Grace Church in Madison picked up 102 pairs of Adult and children’s shoes.

Pro Labore Outreach Ministry in Madison picked up 4 pairs for persons who were homeless.

The Sunshine Place continues to refer people to us if they are out of a certain size of shoe.

We are looking for more volunteers to help either on Wednesday afternoon or Saturday morning.

Please contact June Paul or Fr. Mike Tess if you are able to help.

We need volunteers to help sort, clean, deliver and welcome.  As we continue to work together to organize this ministry and the area it operates from in this church God continues to teach and mold us in much the same way that Jesus ministered to and taught His disciples.  One might say that we are learning to fish as Jesus continues to call us to follow him and become fishers of men (women and children too!)

“As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

When you provide shoes to people in need, you are providing them with good news!  Your giving speaks  to their hearts as well as protecting their feet.

We look forward to celebrating this ministry on August 20th with all of you present.  God’s Peace and Blessings Be upon You!

Your Sister Servant in Christ, June Paul, Coordinator
